'Crosby Season' Bet Menu
Parallels Del Mar Summer Meet

With just a few differences, Del Mar’s upcoming “Bing Crosby Season” betting menu will be quite similar to the offerings presented this past summer at the seaside oval.

Racing begins next Friday (November 7) for the 15-day stand that carries through to Sunday, November 30.

Once again, there will be 14 different types of wagers presented, starting with the traditional win, place and show and going all the way down to several five- and six-horse combination bets. Additionally, Del Mar will offer “guarantees” for two of its most popular weekend pools.

The Pick Six, long the most-favored multiple bet in California, will have a guaranteed pool of $150,000 for all weekend (Saturday and Sunday) cards. The $2 bet requires fans to pick the winners of the last six races on the day’s card and can result in large payoffs. Also, there will be a guaranteed pool of $400,000 on weekends for another popular multi-bet, the Pick Four. This wager, which is offered at a .50¢ minimum, requires the picking of the last four winners on the day’s card.

Del Mar plans to offer nine races for its opening Friday, Saturday and Sunday cards, then eight races each Thursday and Friday and nine on weekends for the balance of the meet. First post on weekdays will be 12:30 p.m., then it will be 12 noon on weekends.

One change in the standard bet menu will be with the Super High Five wager (requiring the picking – in order – of the first five finishers in the day’s last race) having its minimum price level increased from .50¢ to $1. This is reflective of how the bet currently is presented throughout the Southern California circuit. The track will continue to offer a .50¢ Player’s Pick Five on the day’s first five race with a reduced takeout rate of 14%.

The full array of Del Mar bets is as follows: $2 win, place and show; $1 Exacta; $2 Quinella; $1 Trifecta; $2 Rolling Doubles; $1 Rolling Pick Threes; $1 Superfecta (.10¢ minimum); $1 Place Pick all; $1 Super High Five; $2 Pick Six; .50¢ Player’s Pick Five, and .50¢ Pick Four.
