“This has been a wonderful season for me. When I came here, I hoped to do well – of course. But now it has happened. I am happy, very happy. And this is a fine way to finish things up.”

MARTIN GARCIA (One Last Shot, second) – “Good trip for my filly. She ran well. The winner – she got the trip. Right up the rails.”

MARIO GUTIERREZ (Gomo, third) – “I didn’t have any problems; no excuses. It was a good trip for us. I actually think she’s a better filly on dirt. I know she won on the grass, but I think it was a case of the competition. I look for her to go back to dirt.”

DOUG O’NEILL (Jakaby Jade, winner) – “It’s been crazy (winning two stakes here plus the Hopeful at Saratoga), but everything has worked out perfectly. This is an average-sized filly and when we worked her over the grass (bullet 4 furlongs in :48.60 four days ago) we were worried we might have overworked her. But she has adjusted to the U.S. very quickly and very well. We got a great ride from Flavien (Prat) getting through on the inside like he did.”

The stakes win was the fourth of the meet for rider Prat. This is his first summer at Del Mar.

The stakes win was the sixth of the meet for trainer O’Neill (the most by any conditioner) and his first in the Del Mar Juvenile Fillies Turf. He now has 32 stakes wins at Del Mar.
