Enola Gray, winner of five of six starts in her career, figures to be a solid favorite Sunday versus five rivals in the featured $100,000-guaranteed Betty Grable Stakes at seven furlongs on the main track for California-bred older fillies and mares.
Enola Gray, a speedy daughter of Grazen owned and bred by Nick Alexander and trained by Phil D’Amato, will have regular pilot Tyler Baze aboard. The filly won her first three races in brilliant fashion, was upset as the 1-5 favorite in the Beverly Lewis Stakes at Los Alamito but rebounded to win the California Distaff Handicap most recently, Oct. 15, at Santa Anita.
Opposing Enola Gray in the Betty Grable will be Barbara Beatrice, to be ridden by Tiago Pereira; My Fiona, Fernando Perez; Cuddle Alert, Agapito Delgadillo; Chao Chom, Kent Desormeaux, and Harlington’s Rose, Joe Talamo.
Barbara Beatrice, My Fiona and Cuddle Alert come into the Betty Grable off recent triumphs, while Chao Chom has been runner-up in her last three starts.
Post time for the first of nine races will be 12:30 p.m.
