With longshots ringing up win after win, Del Mar’s popular Pick Six bet was too tough to take down Friday causing a carryover of $84,078 to go forward into Saturday’s pool for the exotic wager.

 

Only one favorite managed a victory in the six-race sequence Friday afternoon at the shore oval and that was in the 9th Race finale when Buzzer Beater scampered home under Santiago Gonzalez for a $4.20 return.

 

The other winners on the card were:  (3rd Race) Oopper Wallah (ridden by Norberto Arroyo, Jr.) $48.20; (4th Race) Pedro Cerrano (Arroyo, Jr.) $29.00; (5th Race) Perfect Pic (Gonzalez) $12.20; (6th Race) Zuri Chop (Brayan Pena) $42.00; (7th Race) the feature Shared Belief Stakes -- Accelerate (Tyler Baze) $5.60, and Buzzer Beater.

 

Carryovers of Saturday’s size normal draw a good bit of “fresh” money and a total Pick Six pool in the neighborhood of $500,000 is expected.

 

First post Saturday is at 2 p.m. The Pick Six will be on races 5 through 10.
