DP Racing’s Lynne’s Legacy, piloted by Victor Espinoza, rallied from last place to win Del Mar’s feature race, a contest for older fillies and mares at a mile and one-sixteenth over the infield Jimmy Durante Turf Course Thursday.
Outrun and far back in the early stages of the contest, Lynne’s Legacy launched her rally on the far turn, engaged 8-5 favored Summer Lady for the lead in the final sixteenth and drew off nearing the wire to score by a length and one-quarter.
Summer Lady held second, a length and three-quarters ahead of Almost Reality, with Stole a Kiss fourth in the field of nine female runners.
Lynne’s Legacy, a three-year-old daughter of Unusual Heat from the barn of trainer Jim Cassidy, ran the distance in 1:43.04 and returned $11.60, $4.60 and $3.20 after her second success in nine efforts. Summer Lady, piloted by Flavien Prat, paid $3.40 and $2.60, while Almost Reality returned $3 to show.
There were no perfect tickets in Thursday’s Pick Six. Thus, there is a carryover of $68,514 which will be offered on Friday’s program which begins at 4 p.m.
Attendance Thursday was 6,622.
