Nine evenly-matched California-bred two-year-old fillies will battle Wednesday in the 65th running of the $100,000 California Thoroughbred Breeders’ Association Stakes at five and one-half furlongs.
Entered are Time for Suzzie, apprentice Heriberto Figueroa; Six Pack Gal, Rafael Bejarano; Time for Kisses, Joe Talamo; Cozze Kid, Drayden Van Dyke; Scatapulp, Martin Pedroza; Lippy, Mario Gutierrez; Montana Sunset, Gary Stevens; Naughty Tiger, Ruben Fuentes, and Accomplishedsister, Mike Smith.
All of the fillies have won at least a maiden race, with the exception of Lippy who is the lone stakes-winner in the field, having won the Juan Gonzalez Memorial at Pleasanton after a maiden score at Santa Anita.
Six Pack Gal was an impressive winner of her first race at Santa Anita in May and was shipped to Belmont Park to run in the June 7 Astoria Stakes, finishing sixth. In from the East coast is Montana Sunset, a winner of a maiden race in the slop for trainer Wesley Ward at Pimlico.
