She’s Not Here, a daughter of Street Cry trained by Vickie Oliver, scored by a convincing length and three-quarters over 25-1 outsider Beat of The Drum, with 2-1 second choice checking in third a half-length behind the runner-up and a length and one-quarter in front of fourth-place Famous Alice.
Istanford, the 6-5 favorite under Rafael Bejarano, set the pace for most of the journey but faltered in the stretch to be fifth, beating only Kool Kat to the wire. Istanford was a two-time Del Mar stakes-winner last summer, capturing the San Clemente and Sandy Blue.
She’s Not Here, owned by G. Watts Humphrey, Jr. and St. George Farm Racing, ran the distance in 1:34.61 and returned $25.60, $10.60 and $4 while scoring her fourth victory in 15 starts. Beat of The Drum paid $18.20 and $6, while Indecise returned $3 to show.
With a carryover of $63,705 from Wednesday and $504,951 in “new” money Thursday, the Pick Six pool totaled $568,656. There was one perfect ticket and it paid $333,444.80, largest Pick Six payoff of the season thus far.
Attendance totaled 7,818 Thursday.
