Six-year-old Solid Wager will be seeking his third straight victory in the $100,000 Cary Grant Stakes Sunday when he faces nine rivals in the seven-furlong sprint for California-bred horses.

Solid Wager, a gelded son of Birdonthewire owned by Barber, Barber and Stanford Stable from the powerhouse stable of trainer Peter Miller, paid $20 when he won the race two years ago under jockey Joe Talamo and returned $7.60 last fall when ridden by Victor Espinoza, his pilot Sunday.

Solid Wager deadheated for first with St. Joe Bay in the Midnight Lute Stakes late last year but is winless in seven subsequent outings.

Opposing Solid Wager in a wide-open betting contest will be Love My Bud, Santiago Gonzalez; Prime Issue, Flavien Prat; Green With Eddie, Drayden Van Dyke; Gold Rush Dancer, Corey Nakatani; Jimmy Bouncer, Martin Pedroza; Edwards Going Left, Tyler Baze; California Diamond, Kent Desormeaux; Smokey Image, Gary Stevens, and Tribal Storm, Rafael Bejarano.

Post time for the first of nine races is 12:30 p.m.
