Cicero Farms’ Tiz a Kiss, benefiting from a well-timed ride by jockey Kent Desormeaux, asserted herself in the stretch to win Del Mar’s feature race Thursday, a one-mile contest over the infield grass course.
Well-positioned from the start, Tiz a Kiss moved powerfully to take command in the stretch and proved best to win by a length and three-quarters in 1:34.83. Curlin’s Fox, the 3-2 favorite, was second, with Amboseli third in the field of nine older fillies and mares.
Tiz a Kiss, a six-year-old mare by Cee’s Tizzy trained by Richard Baltas, went postward the second choice and paid $7, $3.40 and $2.60. Curlin’s Fox returned $3.40 and $2.40, while Amboseli paid $3.80 to show.
There were six perfect tickets in Thursday’s Pick Six and each was worth $9,201.
