Ferro Family and Flores’ Smiling Angelo, impressive winner of his only two races, will make his stakes debut Friday versus seven fellow California-bred three-year-olds in the $150,000 Real Good Deal Stakes at seven furlongs. Post time for the first of eight races Friday is 4 p.m.

Smiling Angelo, a son of former top sprinter Smiling Tiger trained by Phil D’Amato, will have Hall of Famer Mike Smith in the saddle versus Fashionably Fast, Tiago Pereira; Take the One O One, Joe Talamo; Psycho Dar, Evin Roman; Violent Ridge, Geovanni Franco; Shaymin, Mario Gutierrez; Daddysprize, Tyler Baze, and Isee It in Hiseyes, Franklin Ceballos.

Smiling Angelo broke his maiden at Santa Anita in late April, winning by four and one-half lengths in 1:04.60 for five and one-half furlongs as the 8-5 favorite; he returned May 4 to win again by two and one-quarter lengths in 1:10.60 for six furlongs, leading from start to finish on both occasions. He enters the Real Good Deal Stakes after a series of good workouts, including five furlongs from the gate in :59.20 at Del Mar July 21.

Take the One O One is the lone stakes-winner in the line-up, accounting for the Snow Chief Stakes at nine furlongs on the grass in early June. In eight starts, he’s only been worse than third once.
